New Medicine
Cat Couch here:
Chatham suddenly has stopped making the short jumps up and down off of the couch and bed a couple of days ago. (We've got stools set up to make it easier.) He would just sit there and demand to be picked up or taken down. Clearly, the arthritis in his rear legs has gotten worse.
He doesn't seem to be in any pain, just frustrated. He's as bossy as ever! He did get into the litter box (well, his rear end didn't always make it all the way in...) as long as he was on the floor.
There is a medicine that our Vet told us about, Metacam, that could help his arthritis, but she said it would be hard on his kidneys (which are already in bad shape). My husband did some online research and there are other people whose cats did very well on it. Naturally there was one or two whose cats were harmed by it.
So I'm off to the Vet's to talk to her and get this new medicine. We'll keep a close eye on Chatham and see how he does with it.
