Friday morning UPDATE

(see the post below from yesterday)

Chatham has slept with us since he was eight weeks old, we weren't about to stop that now, even if he has been peeing in bed. We've had middle-of-the-night bed and clothing changes now and then. Well, Hubby and I didn't get much sleep last night because Chatham was urinating so much. And now he really can't hold it long. If we can wake up enough to get him to the box (next to our bed) when he starts to meow, then we're okay; but if we can't ... well, let's just say that there's alot of laundry to do. (We have plastic on top of our flat sheet, then towels or another flat sheet on top of that - that's what we've been sleeping on lately) (anything for our ol' boy, ya know)

Chatham's urine has gotten to look more bloody, so we did our share of crying overnight, especially since we were getting up every 90 or so minutes to tend to him (and the bed, etc.) and were exhausted. Finally, it looks like the frequency has slowed, so I'm letting Hubby and Chatham sleep in. I called off work (my work hours have been cut back severely; this was my only day scheduled this week).

We'll keep a close eye on him, and take it day by day. So far his outlook (grumpy and bossy) hasn't changed.

It's sad when a body doesn't keep up with the mind. eh?

UPDATE to the UPDATE at 8:34 am:
okay, after having a pretty scary-red pee at 3:30 am, Chatham just presented us with a clear stream ... what's up? I'm cautiously happy, but I'll have to see if I can research what's going on. He had only one dose of the antibiotic yesterday, so I can't believe that that would be the answer this soon.

Purrayers and purrs for Chatham.

Have you tried pee pads? Mommy still uses one to line our carrier, but used to use them all the time for Vincent when he was sick. They are plastic on one side and cottony/papery on the other. She gets them at the grocery store over where they sell Depends for humans. Might save you from having to do quite so much laundry.

Yes we have used pee pads for our old cat as well. They do work and for more than one accident if they need to.

Perhaps Chatham's own body is working the infection out? Hard to say until you find out more information from the vet.

We did the same thing for Bear, our poodle-cat, when she started to lose control. I did laundry every morning. I got some of the waterproof hospital pads from a nurse friend, they really helped.

We are keeping sweet Chatham and family in our prayers... thanks for keeping us posted.

Mrs Cat Couch, mommy says that it sounds like the aunty-bio-tiks kicked in - she saided that they take time.

Grampa Norton hadded a peeing prollem in the bed too. Mommy used the Puppy Training Pads all the time. She putted them unner the towels so that anyfing not soaked up by the towels was soaked up by the pads. And the plastic is not so crinkly too. She putted them efurrywhere- unner the litterbox, on the bed, on the floors, on the couch where Norton napped during the day. Sometimes she didn't put towels ofurr them 'acuase they were furry absorbent all on their own.

we is sending big purrrrrrrssssssssss to our furriend Chatham, and to you to Mrs Cat Couch.

Ya know, I just realized that you are treating your cat better than I treated you as a baby. I made you sleep in a baby bed and pee in a diaper. I'm a bad mommy.

We're going through the same thing over here with Meeko. SHe hasn't peed in the bed...yet. But has just about everywhere else. She was on anitbiotics for a week, and seemed to be all better. But....she started back up with the peeing everywhere and it's blood-tinged. Looks like we'll be making another visit to the V-E-T. Hope all turns out well for y'all.
