Better Liver, Worse Kidneys

Cat Couch here:

Chatham finished another round of antibiotics, so we took a urine sample to the Vet. There was still evidence of blood in his urine, so we took him in for a blood test.

Chatham has been on Denosyl for some years now for his liver ... and his liver has improved. Unfortunately, his kidneys have worsened. He is now in moderate kidney failure, and this is what probably will ultimately send him over the Rainbow Bridge.

However, at the moment he seems okay. He has actually gained a little more weight. He has an appetite and can still get to the litter box (although he doesn't always actually eliminate INside it...). He bosses us around all the time, too.

The photo above shows a peacock feather that I brought home from the Pennsylvania State Farm Show, as well as a tuft of hair from a cow (thinking that he might like to sniff it ...). Salem later ate the end of the feather and then threw it up.

Oh I'm sorry your kidneys aren't doing great. That's a very common meezer problem and I'm sure you're a strong kitty who will fight on.

That feather is AWESOME!!!! I've never seen anything like it.

Chatham and Cat Couch. Thanks for the update. Aging isn't fun for beans or kitties.

Take care and just play with the feathers, don't eat them.
